The Challenge:
Geo. A. Kelson, a Mechanical Contractor in Newmarket, Ontario, wanted to store seven years worth of records in one location. They looked into utilizing an off-site storage company, but opted for a solution that would allow their documents to be readily accessible to workers at their Newmarket location. By consolidating all of their records in one location, Geo. A. Kelson anticipated improved efficiency, as the documents would be more accessible to workers and better organized. Also, much of the information stored is confidential and having the materials on site enhances the feeling of security.

The Solution:
After consulting with Lev’rmark, a contract furniture dealership offering interior space planning and design, Spacefile’s Mechanical Assist Mobile (SDS) was selected because of its large storage capacity, versatility and flexibility. The custom designed modular system saves valuable floor space, accommodates various storage applications and allows for substantial growth. Spacefile demonstrated its design flexibility by building shelving to Geo. A. Kelson’s own specifications.

The Result:
Geo. A. Kelson has successfully consolidated seven years worth of records in one Mechanical Assist Mobile (SDS) system. Spacefile’s versatile shelving accommodates accounting records, binders and engineering drawings in addition to larger and heavier items such as filters, spare parts, hard hats and safety kits.
The system started small, but has grown substantially since the initial installation. The storage volume has doubled and Geo A. Kelson has increased the number of storage cabinets on the existing system from three to eight in order to handle the growth.
